What is the average lifespan of a marsant'sx electric bike motor?

Most electric bike motors have a lifespan of 3 to 10 years. Motor lifespans vary, but they are considered one of the longest-lasting parts. Because the motor is essential to the operation of the bike, it is often the reason you need to upgrade to a new e-bike.

There are two types of motors: geared hub motors and mid-drive motors. Geared hub motors have more friction and wear than mid-drive motors. This is because the gears inside the motor make many revolutions at a faster rate every time the motor case slowly rotates with the wheel. Therefore, geared hub motors should be replaced between 3,000 and 10,000 miles. High-quality motors may have a lifespan closer to the upper end of this range. Geared hub motors are cheaper and easier to replace than mid-drive motors. If you've already replaced your geared hub motor 3-5 times, you should consider buying a new e-bike. At that point, the cost and hassle of replacing the motor starts to outweigh the cost of a new bike.

Mid-drive motors, on the other hand, have additional sensors, components, and a proprietary design. This additional complexity allows for a much longer lifespan than geared hub motors, but it also has some drawbacks. One drawback is that mid-drive motors can overheat and are prone to rust if left in wet conditions. Therefore, it is important to keep the bike and motor components dry. A second drawback is that mid-drive motors are difficult to replace. If you have replaced your mid-drive motor two or three times, you should consider buying a new e-bike.
