April 26, 2024

When storing an electric bicycle indoors, please note the following:

Battery storageIf you have a lithium-ion battery, store it at 40-80% charge and charge it only when the battery is at 20%.If you have a nickel-cadmium battery, store it at 80% charge and fully charge it every two months. Also, store your battery away from heat and moisture.

Lubricate your chain and see if other moving parts need lubrication as well. There are many different types of lubricants on the market, so choose the one that best suits your bike's drivetrain.

Store batteries separately!
If you store your e-bike indoors, remove the battery and store it separately from the bike - this will prevent the battery from becoming fully discharged and potentially damaging it.

Keep your electric bike clean!
After dusting, wipe your e-bike with a cloth, this will prevent dirt and grime from sticking to the surface of the bike.

For some electric bikes that have air-inflated tires, it may be preferable to store the tires fully inflated so they are always ready to go.

Check for loose parts Before storing, check all the different parts of your bike. This will prevent problems in the future from loose screws, broken parts, etc.

When storing an electric bicycle outdoors, please note the following:

Rack locationThe location of the rack you use will depend on the climate in your area. If you live in a humid environment, it's best to place it against a building or wall out of direct sunlight.

Choose the Rack Properly When choosing an outdoor storage rack, make sure you know whether you want your e-bike to hang or stand. For the hanging option, the rack should be able to support at least 50 pounds. If your bike weighs more than that, a standing rack is the best choice.

Inspect and Adjust Before storing your e-bike, inspect it and adjust its components as necessary. This will prevent future repairs and maintenance.

If you want to properly cover your e-bike, you can buy special e-bike covers to protect your e-bike from sunlight and moisture. There are two main styles of e-bike covers: fully closed and open.

Proper Weather Protection Depending on your e-bike, you may need to protect it from rain and moisture. Metal framed e-bikes can withstand all kinds of weather, while plastic framed e-bikes need extra protection.
