How to change the tires on an electric bike

Switching to high gear When changing the rear tire, you need to switch to high gear to avoid contact between the hub motor and the chain.

Positioning your e-bikeFirst, lay a seat on the bike to prevent it from being damaged.Next, prop the bike up on a stand if you have one.If you don't have a stand, use the saddle and handlebars to turn the bike upside down.If you use the handlebars and saddle to support the bike, remove the handlebar console to prevent damage.

When cutting the motor cable, if your e-bike has a motor hub, it will connect to the battery with a cable. The location will vary depending on the e-bike, but it's usually along the chainstay. Once you know where the cable is, you can cut it at the motor, the battery, or in between.

Removing the Wheel To remove the wheel you need to follow these steps:

Use a quick release skewer to turn the handle and remove it, then check to see if the axle bolt is attached to the nut and remove the bolt if present.
Peel off the rubber nut cover. Then use a wrench to remove the nut.
Hold one side with a wrench while you loosen the axle.
If your e-bike has a frame inset feature, this feature is an oval cut that offers different possibilities to place the wheel on the frame. Then mark the position of the axle before releasing.
When you reinstall the wheel, make sure it fits in the same position as it did the first time.
If a washer is included, be careful of the direction of the washer.
Make sure to check if the outboard side of your e-bike is different from the inboard side, it is important to mount the tire correctly when re-installing the wheel.

With the wheel nuts released and the bolts removed, you should be able to remove the wheel from the frame, then to avoid the chain getting caught on the flywheel, apply more pressure on the jockey wheel to create space for the tire to come off.

Throw out the old one and put the new one on Once the wheel is off, the process is like a normal tire change. First, use a plastic or silicone tire lever to pry the rubber off the rim. Then, once the tire is off the wheel, you can replace the inner tube.
Next, we will fix the new tire. This can be done by reversing the removal process. Furthermore, to make it easier to install the new tire, the tire bead should be placed in the groove of the rim. After that, by hand or using a tire lever, pull the tire to the side of the rim until it is comfortably secured. Next, connect the pump to the valve of the inner tube and inflate the tire with air. While doing this, the tire will move to the edge of the rim. Finally, the wheel is ready for installation. Place the wheel in the dropouts or frame insets to extend the rear derailleur to make installation easier. After that, tighten the bolts after installing the wheel.
